More random randomness.
-Life seems so backwards sometimes. When you are young you are skinny. But you don’t appreciate it. You also have lots of energy, but lack the wisdom to use it wisely. And most people face starting a family at about the same time they’re trying to build a career. Is it possible to excel at both?
-Severance on Hulu is one of the best TV shows ever. The other TV shows I would put on my list are Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Office. Severance season 2 just ended and while I wait for Season 3 (probably a year away), I am going to rewatch the first two seasons again.
-You ever look at the speedometer on your car and wonder why it goes so high, and if in fact it would really go that fast. Julie’s speedometer goes to 180. I wonder…
-Mary asked me last night if I ever used Algebra or complex math in any of my jobs. I couldn’t think of a single time. That turned into a conversation about why kids have to learn certain things they will almost certainly never need or use while they’re not taught things they almost certainly should know. Like, how about a class in high school on how to file your taxes?
-I don’t know how to play chess. My friend Walt tried to teach me one time but I quickly determined I’m not just smart enough. Maybe they could teach that in high school too?
-Speaking of chess, I admire people who live life “playing chess”.,..meaning thinking 2 or 3 moves ahead of the rest of us who are playing checkers.
-A friend made fun of my color blindness the other day, and now I question our future as friends. I mean, that was a huge gray flag to me.
I hit 100 subscribers to this Substack feed this week. Thank you for signing up! I promise you my posts will remain useless, uninformative, but short.

I don’t think a day goes by that I don’t read these and wonder where this stuff you write about resides. There is simply none of it in my head. Love the topics.
When I homeschooled my children, I included "Consumer Math" into the curriculum, because -- like you & Julie -- I never really used algebra 1 or 2. But I have had to budget for my groceries, bills, and other expenses.
The gray comment made me giggle.
