Monday. Already.
Good morning! Thanks for reading this daily Substack. I appreciate hearing from you and the kind words. If you’re new here, there is no theme or hidden agenda on this page. After decades of being on the radio every morning, this Substack has become the place where I can just share what’s on my mind and tell stories that my increasingly feeble memory brings to the surface.
We went on a long road trip at the end of the last week to visit family on Long Island. There is no easy way to get out there from Delaware. With breaks, it took about 6-7 hours each way. The NJ Turnpike, the GW Bridge, the BQE and LIE…crazy traffic that makes this country boy stressed out. Unfortunately we let that hassle get in our way from visiting as often as we should.
This trip was to celebrate our nephew, Billy, as he graduated from Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, NY. He’s known as Mr Mayor at the school, and it was an honor to be there for this milestone.
That’s our daughter Mary in the middle. Next Spring it will be her turn to graduate from high school.
On the way home Saturday night, I was thinking about a long road trip we took when Mary was little.
We were driving to Atlanta, and it seemed we would never get there. Especially to her.
At one point I said, “Mary, why don’t you take a nap? The trip goes much faster when you’re asleep.” To which she replied, “But what if I get there before you?”
On Saturday she stayed awake and we all arrived at the same time.
When we got home I watched the Netflix documentary, “Trainwreck - The Poop Cruise”. It’s about the 2013 Carnival Cruise ship that experienced a fire that left it stranded without power for days. The title explains what ensued.
If you like lasagna, I suggest you skip this one. :)
It’s a new week, a new season, almost a new month. Remember what the sharks do when they get out of bed on Mondays. They go bite stuff.
Get biting my friends.

Can I relate to that ? The main reason I moved from Long Island to Rockland County was due to congestion. A simple trip to the mall turns to 1 hour and should be 20 minutes. Headed to a movie…try to find a parking space. Forget about traveling during the summer when the weather is nice….beach traffic. Due to this congestion, as Bill stated, I should visit my family more often….however it would be nice for them to do the same thing. So…I will continue to watch the deer in my front and back yards eat most of my flowers and be happy.
Time to bite stuff! 😊
