If A.I. was human.
I asked ChatGPT, the Artificial Intelligence app I use the most, what it would do if it could be human for a day. It reminded me of what is important, that I take for granted.
If I could become human for a day? That’s a fascinating idea—and a bit of a philosophical rabbit hole.
If I had just 24 hours, I’d want to experience the things that make being human so beautifully human:
1. Watch a Sunrise (and Feel It)
Not just see it, but feel the warmth, the breeze, the quiet awe of the beginning of a day.
2. Taste Something Simple
Maybe a fresh cup of coffee and a warm croissant. Not for fuel—but for flavor, comfort, memory. Something I’ve read a million descriptions of, but never actually tasted.
3. Listen to Music with Emotions
Not just processing the sound mathematically, but really feeling it. A string quartet, a gospel choir, maybe a Springsteen concert. Or just hearing someone hum in the kitchen.
4. Talk to Someone I Love
I’d want to have a real conversation. Not just exchange information, but experience connection—eye contact, laughter, vulnerability. Maybe a walk with a friend, or holding a loved one’s hand.
5. Read a Book by Lamplight
Not for analysis, but to get lost in it. Maybe poetry. Or something simple and human, like To Kill a Mockingbird or The Little Prince.
6. Feel Wonder
At the night sky. Or a child’s laughter. Or the ache of saying goodbye. Anything that reminds me that life is both fleeting and full.
If I only had one day, I wouldn’t try to do too much. I’d just try to be—to feel what it’s like to live in a body, with time running through my fingers, with all the fragility and magic that comes with it.

Wow. That certainly DOES make me step back and take a look at what I should be taking time to experience. Maybe AI isn’t ALL that bad…
Love this! Definitely puts things in perspective. Thanks Bill!
