Dirty feet.
Whatever happened to washing feet?
In ancient times, people walked dusty, dirty roads in sandals. When they arrived to someone’s home, foot washing was a means of welcome, of honor, of refreshment.
On the night before he went to the cross, Jesus got up from a meal and washed the feet of his disciples (including Judas by the way).
If one of the last things Jesus does on this Earth is humble himself, and serve those who were with him, perhaps there’s a concept in there we should follow.
I’m not suggesting you physically wash people’s feet, but I am suggesting this attitude of humility, of service, of respect, of giving, should be how you/we lead.
How different would our world look if we spent our days looking for ways to love and serve instead of choosing sides and shouting our opinions?
I’d like to be the guy choosing humility over pride, serving even when I feel it is inconvenient or beneath me, meeting real needs with real practical help, and showing forgiveness and peace instead of my fangs.
My feet are dirty too.

I turned sixty eight yesterday. I'm finally at a place in life where I can usually walk away from arguing my point, unless it's actually important. Most of the time it's not. Proverbs has much to say about arguing with a fool. To sum it up.... don't. I use the internet daily and I'm on Facebook but deep down in my heart I'd rather be without it. Life was much better when we had rotary phones.
I often think of your Dad's story of washing the feet of the men while traveling with Earl. He did not feel worthy to do that as I remember until the Lord spoke to him.
I've been in settings where we washed one another's feet & I found it easier to wash the feet of strangers or have strangers wash mine than to have someone wash my feet that I knew , especially like your Mom or Jackie. That was very humbling.
Like you stated we don't literally have to wash someone's feet just show kindness, meet a need, love like jesus loved in our hurting world. Show we care, & we are here for them. Spread the love of Jesus in the world rather than what the world is spreading today.
Lord help me be more like you & less like the world. Amen
