Brain dump
I sometimes comment about how all our dog does is sleep all day. But then I considered…what are its options? It can’t play cards or video games because it doesn’t have thumbs. It can’t shop or visit other dogs because it doesn’t have a drivers license. And its too smart to get into politics. Some days I envy a dogs life of just laying around, but it must also be incredibly boring.
Did you ever think about what career path you would choose if you were 18 and money, talent, logistics, and training were irrelevant? I think I’d choose PGA Tour professional. You get to travel in private jets, play the best golf courses in the world, and earn ridiculous money for playing golf. I’m sure there are downsides to the lifestyle, but I’d give it a shot. I’ve only broken 90 one time, so this dream is equivalent to my second choice which would be playing guitar for the Eagles. The band not the football team. They need a place kicker more than a guitarist, which come to think of it would also be a cool career. You get to be on the team, wear the uniform, and you only have to play a few seconds every game. Downside, you have a bunch of angry 300 lb guys trying to kill you while you do your job. You don’t have to worry about that with golf.
Dunkin makes good coffee. But their food is the worst. If I ran Dunkin, I’d hire the Wawa food person and ask them to overhaul our menu. From the donuts on down. But don’t change the coffee.
Every time I call customer service, and I am put on hold, I hear, “Please listen carefully as our menu options have changed.” Like I remembered their menu options from the last time I called them 5 years ago? Another common one, “We’re experiencing high call volume.” Awesome. So hire more people. Or temporarily move resources around so you can have more people taking care of your customers on the phone. The other day I called Avelo Airlines with an issue. It was 2:14 pm Sunday afternoon, and I was trying to book a flight for Monday morning. They said there was 50-some people ahead of me and put me on hold. After about ten minutes I got the option to hold my place in line, and receiving a call back from them in approximately 100 minutes. I got the return call at 9:30 pm. They were probably tied up changing their menu options. That would have been a great time for an actual case of, “This call is being recorded for training purposes.”

How about making a doctor's appointment on line. They ask you to do all of the sign in stuff on line...pix's of your insurance card(s) etc. They ask you to get there 15 minutes earlier.
You get there early and you still wait at least 1/2 hour after your assigned appointment time. Is not my time as valuable as theirs ? One time I took my mom to her optometrist. He appointment was for 10am. I left office early to get here there in time. It's now 1pm. We are both sitting there. I went up to the desk and pretty told me under no uncertain terms that my time is just as important as theirs. I cancelled the appointment, got my mom and we walked out. The staff was in shock. Next time...we waited 15 minutes. Thank you !
