My son Nick once asked me if I had a motto.
Never thought about it. But my favorite Scripture is Numbers 6:24-26. I guess if I had to pick one it would be Don’t seek blessings, be a blessing.
Not sure it’s a motto, but this is poem has served as a guidepost for me for a long time…
Look to this Day by Kalidasa
Look to this day For it is life,
the very best of life.
In its brief course
Lie all the truths and realities of your existence.
The joy of growth,
The glory of action,
The splendor of beauty
Are but experiences of time.
For yesterday is but a memory
And tomorrow is only a vision
But today if well-lived,
Makes every yesterday a memory of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope
Look well therefore to this day;
For it and it alone is life.
I can do all things through Christ Jesus
I have a few, I guess. Or, are they sayings? Oh, well.
1) Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow Him -- not our fluffy pillows.
2) My blood type helps direct me in the way I should try to live life: "B positive."
